The company

Beta Elettronica srl, an affiliate of Beta-Group, was founded in 1980 with the aim of designing and developing both electronic products and technologies for the new markets. Since its start-up, most of the leading Italian and foreign companies have figured among its customers.

The year 1985 marked Beta Elettronica’s turning point in terms of business growth, as the company decided to enter the market with its own sales network, able to provide qualified technicians and salespeople to potential customers. In 1990, an independent group was set up within the company, taking care of the merchandising, as well as of the problems linked to the after-sales.

Only in 1991, Beta Elettronica reached the conclusion that it would be more profitable to demonstrate some of its own designed and manufactured products directly to the end-user, rather than to expose them in a point of sale within the conventional sales network. Thus, the direct sales concept was introduced, along with the Beta-Network, an organization able to supply security systems and technologies, manufactured by the company itself, directly to the customer, i.e. the end-user of the product and of its related services.

In 1995, speaking of security services, the implementation of new hardware and software solutions for closed-circuit television control systems became necessary, starting from the simplest ones designed for the protection of small shops to more elaborated ones for the protection of vast areas and factories. In those years, the wide-area video surveillance was introduced, using state-of-the-art technologies controlling urban areas most at risk even over a long distance by means of specific protocols featuring compression software. In 1999, after having been confronted with the market problems, the anti-robbery project Safe Shop was launched by an affiliate of the Gruppo Beta, namely Securshop S.r.l., in alliance with the Traders Association and the Police Force (Police and Carabinieri), undertaking on the territory an ambitious, as well as significant project in terms of national security. Thanks to the idea of introducing in every business activity a device capable of sending images and robbery emergency signals directly to the Police Force, a widespread distribution, as well as service management of anti-robbery, security, and closed-circuit television control systems have gained ground throughout Italy, involving also Security Firms. The endorsement of the programme Securshop/Beta took place on June 30, 2003 at the Viminale in Rome by undersigning an Agreement of Understanding with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Confcommercio (the General Federation of Italian Commerce), Confesercenti (the Federation of Italian Trade), and Comufficio (the Association of companies distributing products and services for offices, informatics and telematics). The increasing request to survey wider areas entailed the development of new satellite technologies like Betasat, as well as the platform Ip Beta. These technologies are an essential aspect as far as future challenges are concerned, like the development of VOICE OVER IP systems, able to transfer voices, data and images in a continuously changing world.
